Travertine Falls November 11, 2009

A place full of sunshine, plant life, and adventure, Travertine Falls is a site you must see. If you love hiking, picnicking with the family, or just plain out love the outdoors, then this place is for you! For years people have been experiencing the magnificent site of Travertine Falls. The trail here at Travertine Falls is more secluded than most trails in the Sandias, thus making it more peaceful. While hiking, you will encounter beautiful scenery that cannot be found anywhere else. The trail passes through a pinyon-juniper habitat and reaches a cave with a trickling waterfall. The cave, which is the main attraction, is made of travertine. Travertine is a soft mineral that is formed by the evaporation of water containing dissolved limestone. Currently the cliff is towering a height of fifteen feet! Near the cliff is a beautiful waterfall. The site is filled with beauty that will take your breath away and leave you awestruck. So get out your picnic baskets, lace up your hiking boots, and head over to Travertine Falls for some fun and adventure!
